I have bought 3 phones from Flipkart earlier. All Asus Zenfones and I know how Zenfones volume quality is like. The problems with the phone when it was shipped are beyond discussion. Is the 10%cash back offer given by Flipkart just to get away with these substandard pieces? Or is Asus cheating Flipkart, the big giant? Whichever maybe the case here, they are losing out on one great thing — customers.
Flipkart is known for its prompt customer response and I've in the past happily bought and returned several things. I trust Flipkart. At least, till now I used to.
Let me give you a backdrop to my cellphone usage. I used to own one of the first touch screen phones. I have dropped the primitive touchscreen phones without anything close to a gorilla glass and without a scratch guard or cover or at times with a cover. But nothing has ever happened. That was real rugged use, in my teens.
I also happened to own ( and still do) the Micromax Canvas 2. One of the best built phones ever made at the time. And even today after growing old and several factory resets later, the body is ok and the screen is amazing. But going by its performance, blindly buying the Micromax Canvas Gold ruined my life. Since two months it is in the authorised Mricmax Service Centre in Vt, (CST), on the right hand side of New Excelsior. And the software problem just won't solve. But despite my terrible complains with Micromax that just won't stop, I've to admit that within the year, the poor thing has obviously fallen from the low lying bed and survived.
How on earth, can anyone explain to me, the so called latest and best GORILLA GLASS 4 in Asus Zenfones Selfie break so miserably by the slightest fall to a phone, mankind has ever known?
One wouldn't have even expected a scratch. Flipkart had earlier denied to return the phone as it didn't have another piece to replace it with. I'd to do a software reset to the brand new phone and do not understand how a brand new phone could behave so?
After several problems and being compelled to use nevertheless by Flipkart, I had to use it. And now I wonder where my 16k has gone!
The only noticeably good thing about the phone is its front flash in the camera that comes in handy in low light outside environments. That's it. Even the red in the back is nothing comparable to the classy metallic finish of Asus Zenfone 2.
Don't even dare buy just a back cover for the Asus Zenfone Selfie if you have already been duped like me. Also buy a glass guard and above all, an insurance. I didn't buy all these things because Flipkart had said it will return it and I was carefully using it at home.
Asus Zenfone Selfie with gorilla glass 4 is supposedly the most fragile and breakable phone in the world. And just by the way, for everyone living in South Bombay, the Asus service centre that is closest to South Bombay is in Lamington road. Get down at Grant Road, take a right and a left and right from signal, cross the road and two or three blocks away is the building where you have to go to level four. After all of this travelling in the heat, you get to hear that the display is not covered in the warranty of your brand new phone and you have to pay 6k and wait for a week or so for it to be done. Because, who else other than the Asus service centre be short of parts?
Bang opposite Regal, near Sahakari Bhandar is a little shop that quotes 3.2k.
And if you still have made the crime of buying Asus Zenfone selfie, never put it on a selfie stick. If it slips, it's 6k a cost with which you could buy a spare phone !
